Personnel Board Meeting <br /> Minutes of April 30 , 1990 Page 3 <br /> Chairman ._Sullivan said that he wants to see where the savings are <br /> going to come from unless they know who the people are . Selectman <br /> Gottleib said that the Board will advertise for the assistants . He <br /> said that in the interim period , you will be paying two people for <br /> doing the job ; however , there are people out there making reference <br /> to the incredible response the Board has received on recent positions . <br /> Selectman Gottleib reviewed a breakdown of the salary budgetted stat- <br /> ing that there will be no change .for assistants and no change for <br /> clerical personnel . Manny Glickman asked to see it on paper . Select- <br /> man Gottleib mentioned that they were looking to pay $28 , 000 for the <br /> salary . Chairman Sullivan asked for a copy of the job description , <br /> Chairman Sullivan told Selectman Gottleib that he is not anti the com- <br /> bination ; however , he wants to see where the savings of $18 , 00.0 would <br /> come from . Chairman Sullivan said that he. thinks it should go another <br /> season rather than rush it . He .asked for the poll of the Board of <br /> Selectmen . Selectman Gottleib said that he , Carol and Will voted for <br /> it . Peter was against it and Jerry had a hard time -- he voted to put <br /> it on the warrant,. arid" voted to take it off . <br /> Jane Stockbridge asked it they will have to educate` ,",' the people? <br /> Selectman Gottleib said that there will. be some training involved . <br /> Manny Glickman said that as a businessman , he suggested he postpone it . <br /> At this point in the. meeting, Selectman Gottleib had to leave to attend <br /> a Board of .Selectmen ' s meeting . Leo Turo also left the meeting . <br /> Manny Glickman said that he would like to put his recommendations on hold <br /> for further consideration until such time as they have the numbers and <br /> the information . Jane Stockbridge said that she agreed to postpone mak- <br /> ing a decision . Ben Lofchie said that he is not in a position to make <br /> any comments on it . Chairman Sullivan said that he would like a position <br /> on it and that he believes it will cost more money in the long run.. <br /> Jane Stockbridge said that they need to know how they will educate the <br /> people for doing qne job versus the other job _ , s p <br /> Ben Lofchie said that he was abstaining . . Manny Glickman voted against <br /> making a decision . Chairman Sullivan voted against recommending it . <br /> Jane Stockbridge said that the Board does. not" have enough ' information , <br /> given to them in . advance of town meeting to take a position in order to <br /> recommend the creation of this . po.sition at this point .,ih time . <br /> Ben and Jane abstained because they did not have the facts and figures . <br /> Manny and Bob voted against recommending it . <br /> Review of Other Articles <br /> Article 13 . - Upgrade of Board Secretary to the Board of Appeals -- <br /> Ben Lofchie will moves: the article . Jane Stockbridge will second it . <br /> All in favor . <br /> Article 14 - Board:.,,;of=:.Assessors Article - Jane Stockbridge will state at <br /> town meeting that the Personnel Board is in favor . <br />
