f <br /> with the annual election in March of 1960,a Planning Board to consist of <br /> five members under the provisions of General Laws, Chapter 41, Section <br /> 81 A; provided that at the 1960 election members of the Planning Board <br /> shall be elected, one for a term of one year, one for a term of two years, <br /> one for a term of three years, one for a term of four years, and one for <br /> a term of five years; subsequent annual elections to choose one member <br /> for a term.of five years.The powers and duties of such Board shall be such <br /> as are stated in General Laws, Chapter 41, Section 81B to 81J inclusive, <br /> and Section 81 Q;and further, to consider and advise upon municipal im- <br /> provements at the request of other town officials,departments,boards,or <br /> committees,or upon its own initiative. <br /> Section 2. Vacancies occurring in the Board shall be filled as provided <br /> in General Laws,Chapter 41,Section 11. <br /> Section 3. The Planning Board upon its own initiation may,and upon <br /> the petition of ten persons, shall, hold public hearings, fourteen days <br /> public notice of which shall be given,for the consideration of any amend- <br /> ments to the zoning map or to the zoning by-laws; and report to a town <br /> meeting its recommendations as to what action should be taken.: <br /> Section 4. The Planning Board shall appoint a consulting engineer in <br /> accordance with Section 7C of the Salary Administration Plan. <br /> Article IX. Council on Aging <br /> Section 1. The Board of Selectmen shall appoint a Council on Aging <br /> for the purpose of coordinating or carrying out programs designed to meet <br /> the problems of the aging in cooperation with programs of the Commis- <br /> sion on Aging established under Chapter 6, Section 73, of the General <br /> Laws. <br /> Section 2. The Board of Selectmen shall appoint the Council on Aging <br /> consisting of seven (7) members. Upon acceptance of this by-law the <br /> Board shall appoint three(3)members for three(3)years,two(2)for two <br /> (2) years and two (2) members for one (1)year term.Members can be re- <br /> appointed for concurrent terms. The members of the Council shall serve <br /> without pay. <br /> 12 <br />
