With Ms.
Hanscom gone, it would be helpful to have another set of hands. He would like to touch base
with Gail Wilson about Survey Monkey.
School Committee Status: a.) Proposed Warrant b.) Replacement for Hope Hanscom
The School Committee launched a survey in search of a Superintendent, this included
people's desires, important qualities, etc. It was used to prepare the search committee and
create a framework to rate candidates, while also remaining unbiased in approach. It was
distributed to 500 individuals, but they didn't feel like the survey captured many votes.
Dan Rodrigues is present this evening as representative of the School Committee. There is a
strong desire to seek a mutual understanding here, but what are we trying to accomplish?
There is an opportunity to partner, but do our visions align? If we as the driving forces can't
formally identify, how can we expect our allies to understand or align with our vision? What
happens in our school is a microcosm of what goes on in our greater community. We want to
create environments of understanding and compassion, and then folks go back out into the
community. How can we best equip our students to interact and survive. Family dynamics
impact what goes on in schools, and they are unsure how to solve that piece.
Chair Stevenson commented that she is looking for a school representative that holds an
administrative position, as that person can accomplish a lot, whether it be grant advisements,
productions, or the power of the pen.
Race Amity Day Planning — Event: June 8, 2025
Doctor William Roberts, pastor and educator, will be the new public speaker. Ms. Johnson-
Graham will give the Native Blessing in both English and Native tongue. They are looking
into brands and sponsors to bring The Crocodile River Band in entirety or a smaller group of
the band for less money. Lastly, there are further attempts being made to bring more food
sponsors. The Chair commented they will contact Mr. Kraft and the Patriots Foundation.
We would like to give an annual award at Race Amity Day, to honor someone who supports
inclusion and diversity in Mashpee. Last year's first recipient was Patty DeBoer for her
dedication to this entire community.
Visibility of MIDC
3
