Our Co. (RBO)to do the
connections, even though the Town is not under contract to work with RBO, RBO is the Phase 1
contractor, and they are working with GHD to get this done. Ms.Tripp went on to say that the grinder
pump procurement is almost ready to be executed. Bids have been in, and the E1 Grinder Pump System
has been selected.
(PowerPoint)
System Start up and Flows:
Wastewater Flow is Required to "Feed"the WRRF, Build a Healthy Biomass, and Start Achieving Nutrient
Reduction
Ms.Tripp stated that there are two (2)types of start up for the MBR units, the cassettes that are
dropped are the biological process. There is enough flow to do hydraulic start up and there is enough
flow to start treating. 10%of the capacity of the membranes are needed for hydraulic start up.The large
users will get that. GHD requires 60%capacity of the membranes before treatment. The nitrification and
de-nitrification will not be in full effect until the flows are up to 60%of the capacity done during the
warranty period. Mr. Lyons asked how the system is filled in order to function. Ms.Tripp stated that
when the pumps are pumping from the pump station, they are a full force main and push uphill. These
force mains enter into a manhole then gravity takes over and goes to the plant. Mr. Lyons asked how
long it takes to establish biomass. Ms.Tripp stated that it can be seeded to speed it up or let nature take
over and it will grow organically. These will be seeded in the summer, and it is a good temperature to
grow bugs. The lifecycle to grow the bugs is roughly 14 days to three (3)weeks and that will be adequate
to complete the process.
(PowerPoint)
GIS System Will Support Communication with Community
Design drawings will be linked to GIS (Geographic Information System)
Property owners will be able to see their tie cards and sewer maps. The Engineer/Site Contractor that
the homeowner hired will be able to access the same. Ms. Castaneda asked if something has to be
worked on for maintenance on the system, will that be visible on the Town System. Ms.Tripp stated
that it would not.
