Town of Mashpee Planning Board
16 Great Neck Road North
Mashpee, Massachusetts 02649

Ms. Waygan asked about architectural design and incorporating Cape Cod style with Tribal
and the outdoors.
Outside of the building there is a large welcome center with benches and informational kiosks.
In working with 9 partners, they want to highlight the work of each of those nine. There is also
discussion about classrooms for educational purposes and presentations. They have been
working closely with Conservation, as it is town owned land. The Wildlife Refuge can accept
donations through their website.

Mr. Hansen suggested a butterfly garden as a popular and successful future idea.

MOTION:
Mr. Richardson made a motion to recommend the passing of Article 26 by Town
Meeting. Seconded by Mr. Balzarini. All in favor.

OLD BUSINESS
Preexisting Non-conforming Structures (formerly proposed Raze and Replace Bylaw)
The Town Planner discussed the concept of a subcommittee. He was able to reach Bob Orsi
on behalf of Popponesset, who is willing. Glenn McCarthy is also interested and available
throughout the summer. Currently, there is a four-member subcommittee that consists of Mr.
Richardson and Ms. Faulkner from the Planning Board, and seeking a fifth member from the
community.

The Chapter 40A Section 6 provision of Mashpee’s Zoning Bylaw needs some clarity for
applicants. Though the proposed adjustments will be mostly specific to Popponesset, there will
also be light adjustments that have town-wide implications. There is a larger issue of how to
best handle enhancements to preexisting non-conforming structures.

Ms. Waygan would like someone who is savvy with floodplains. Mr. Tobin wants to accurately
represent and reflect the voice of the people. He will reach out to Steve Cook, who was
suggested as a fifth representative for this subcommittee.

Island Pickle Special Permit Appeals Period Signatures
Singed by members.

Willowbend Special Permit Appeals Period Signatures
Signed by members.

Housing Production Plan Update
Ms. Waygan had a conversation with Barrett Planning Group’s Alexis Lanzillotta. There will be
a 30-day Public Comment period. If we can get this to a point of comfortability, the Town
4
