Town of Mashpee Planning Board
16 Great Neck Road North
Mashpee, Massachusetts 02649
Planner can publish it and we can start the 30-day comment period, while the Planning Board
simultaneously workshops with the Affordable Housing Committee.

th
The Affordable Housing Committee meets on May 13 at 6:30PM, their meetings are on
Tuesdays. Ms. Waygan would like to go to their meeting, there are a lot of new members.

th
The Select Board meets on June 9, the target should be to get final approval from the Select
rd
Board on June 23.

Mashpee Rotary Improvements Update
No Update.

NEW BUSINESS
Willow Circle Bond Reduction Request and Landscaping Plan
This was originally subject to covenant; this Board released and made the project tripartite.
The amount was revised and reduced once, upon additional line items reviewed and approved
by this Board’s consulting engineer. In November 2023 the amount of the bond was $357,000
and was reduced by $142,000, making the new total $258,000. The current reduction request
is for $79,818, leaving the current amount to $135,709. There is final paving left, landscaping
in the buffer, a sign has been completed, and the catch basins are not completed as well as
fencing along Orchard Road. Mr. Pesce thinks this request is reasonable.

MOTION:
Mr. Richardson made a motion to reduce the value retained for Willow Circle by
$79, 818 from the current bond balance, leaving a remaining balance of $135,709,
deemed adequate for completion of items and closeout of the project. Seconded
by Mr. Balzarini. All in favor.

Due to the timing of permits being pulled for this lot, it was after the approval of the new tree
bylaw. If the mature pitch pines are not cut, the shadow will kill anything planted at the present
location.

Mr. Balzarini walked the site with the Town Planner. The buffer had nice mature trees, and
birds’ nests were spotted among other wildlife, why cut these trees down if there are animals
living there?

Mr. Tobin has written correspondence from the developer regarding a singular abutter on the
backside of Lot 1 who would prefer to just keep those trees and doesn’t care about new
plantings. He will confirm directly with her.

5
