Motion: I move the Town vote to approve Article 7 as printed in the warrant, with the exception <br />of the phrase "or take any other action relating thereto." <br />Motion to amend Article 7 by striking the word "South" and replace with the world "North". <br />Motion to amend passes unanimously. <br />Motion to approve Article 7 as amended passes 251 to 21 at 7:37PM <br />Article 8 <br />To see if the Town will vote to appropriate and transfer the sum of $40,500 from the Community <br />Preservation Fund 10% Open Space/Recreation Reserve in accordance with the provisions of M.G.L. <br />Chapter 44B, §5, for the purpose of funding a grant for the Boys & Girls Club Basketball Court <br />Reconstruction & New Safety Fencing project; Assessors Map 67, Parcel 78 including necessary <br />expenses as related thereto, as recommended by the Community Preservation Committee, or take any <br />other action relating thereto. <br />Submitted by the Community Preservation Committee <br />Explanation: The goal of this project is to reconstruct/rehabilitate the aging basketball court constructed <br />in 1999. The court is used on a year-round basis for outdoor activities and games. Safety fencing is also <br />proposed in the sloped areas. <br />The property is situated on Town -owned land that is deeded and leased to the Boys & Girls Club. The <br />courts are open to the public. Hours will be publicized. For added use, the courts would be striped for <br />Pickleball. Approximately 800 children are registered members of the facility, 1291 annually with other <br />community youth and the summer camp. The Boys & Girls Club intends to contribute to the project by <br />fixing the drainage issues, adding lighting and landscaping. <br />The Community Preservation Committee recommends approval of Article 8 by a vote of 9-0. <br />The Select Board recommends approval of Article 8 by a vote of 5-0 <br />The Finance Committee recommends approval of Article 8 by a vote of 7-0 <br />Motion made by Select Board Member Cotton <br />Motion: I move the Town vote to approve Article 8 as printed in the warrant, with the exception <br />of the phrase "or take any other action relating thereto." <br />Motion passes unanimously at 7:38PM <br />PAGE 6 <br />
