Motion: I move the Town vote to approve Article 7 as printed in the warrant, with the exception of the phrase "or take any other action relating thereto." Motion to amend Article 7 by striking the word "South" and replace with the world "North". Motion to amend passes unanimously. Motion to approve Article 7 as amended passes 251 to 21 at 7:37PM Article 8 To see if the Town will vote to appropriate and transfer the sum of $40,500 from the Community Preservation Fund 10% Open Space/Recreation Reserve in accordance with the provisions of M.G.L. Chapter 44B, §5, for the purpose of funding a grant for the Boys & Girls Club Basketball Court Reconstruction & New Safety Fencing project; Assessors Map 67, Parcel 78 including necessary expenses as related thereto, as recommended by the Community Preservation Committee, or take any other action relating thereto. Submitted by the Community Preservation Committee Explanation: The goal of this project is to reconstruct/rehabilitate the aging basketball court constructed in 1999. The court is used on a year-round basis for outdoor activities and games. Safety fencing is also proposed in the sloped areas. The property is situated on Town -owned land that is deeded and leased to the Boys & Girls Club. The courts are open to the public. Hours will be publicized. For added use, the courts would be striped for Pickleball. Approximately 800 children are registered members of the facility, 1291 annually with other community youth and the summer camp. The Boys & Girls Club intends to contribute to the project by fixing the drainage issues, adding lighting and landscaping. The Community Preservation Committee recommends approval of Article 8 by a vote of 9-0. The Select Board recommends approval of Article 8 by a vote of 5-0 The Finance Committee recommends approval of Article 8 by a vote of 7-0 Motion made by Select Board Member Cotton Motion: I move the Town vote to approve Article 8 as printed in the warrant, with the exception of the phrase "or take any other action relating thereto."
