MASHPEE ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS
MEETING MINUTES
JULY 9, 2025
The primary business includes housing the rescued dogs and finding adoptive
families. It will not be a day care business. There will be typically six to twelve
dogs at a time, or there will be no dogs when adoption has been provided. There
is an existing outdoor fenced area that will provide a secured area to monitor
the dogs and keep them safe, and there is plenty of parking.
Attorney Kirrane read the bylaw requirements into the record.
Mr. Reidy read the Conservation Department and Board of Health comments
into the record.
Mr. Furbush asked if there will be any overnight supervision of the dogs. Ms.
Eaton mentioned that sometimes there might be overnight supervision if there
are any number of dogs. There will be cameras installed that will be monitored,
and that she is within 15 minutes of the location and can be available if there
are any issues. The small dogs will be separated from the larger dogs. Ms. Eaton
mentioned that she has rescued 896 dogs and saved them from euthanasia.
The dogs will be indoors during the night time.
Mr. Furbush asked if there will be any noise that might disrupt the neighboring
businesses. Ms. Toni mentioned that there will not be a high volume of dogs at
any time, and they are housed for a short time and if any noise she can be
readily available to rectify the situation. The dog waste is disposed of at the
current times, and if necessary, she will hire a waste removal company.
Mr. Bonvie asked how the business is funded. Ms. Eaton said that through
private donations, and fund-raising efforts. He also asked if there will be sound
proofing of the kennels.
Ms. Eaton said that she will be working with a professional kennel company
that specializes in sound proofing as well to make sure that they are applying
the correct methods.
Mr. Bonvie mentioned that he is familiar with sound proofing methods. He is in
favor of the business request, but has to make sure to protect the neighboring
businesses.
9
