<br />Select Board <br />Minutes <br />July 28,2025 <br /> <br />Selectman Weeden-yes <br />Selectman Cotton-yes <br />Selectwoman Kelley-Wilson-yes <br />Selectman Richardson- yes <br />Review of Draft #1 of the October 2025 Annual Town Meeting Warrant <br />Town Manager Rodney Collins stated that no action was needed, as no additions can <br />be made unless initiated by the Select Board. He then presented a draft of 14 articles <br />submitted by various committees for consideration at the upcoming Town Meeting. Collins <br />noted that if the Board had specific questions regarding any article, the Chair of the relevant <br />committee or the appropriate department head could be invited to a future meeting—should <br />he or Assistant Town Manager Wayne Taylor be unable to provide the necessary information. <br />Selectman Cotton referenced Article 4, highlighting that it involves a significant funding <br />request related to Mashpee-Wakeby Pond, and emphasized the need to fully understand the <br />scope of the proposal. <br /> The Select Board requested that the Planning Board discuss the proposed <br />articles at a subsequent meeting. <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br />Lynne Barbee of 73 Surf Drive expressed appreciation to the editor of the local newspaper <br />for taking a trip down Gunther's Lane and providing a photograph highlighting the <br />conditions in that area. It was noted that while the land appears to be a beautiful and <br />valuable natural resource, it may not be the appropriate location for sewer infrastructure. <br />Barbee emphasized the importance of protecting conservation land. <br />Richard Read of 23 Gunters Lane expressed that he shared the same concerns as Lynne, <br />acknowledging the need for a facility but questioning the proposed location. He <br />emphasized that wildlife and residents actively use the space. He raised concerns about <br />vehicle access, asking how trucks would even reach the proposed site. He also cited a <br />state requirement for certified letters to be sent to residents, stating that no such <br />notification was received, and that residents were unaware of the proposal until two weeks <br />ago. He concluded by stating that he believed the process was handled improperly and <br />voiced his opposition to the facility being located in that area, saying, “I vote it doesn’t go <br />there.” <br />Kevin Schofield of 31 Gunters Lane expressed strong opposition to the proposed facility, at <br />0 Gunters lane stating that it would be visible from his backyard.
