of TMs s,s
z.
AU1MLIUVy
own qf MaS 2 Panning Board
c
16 Great Weck RoadWorth
-Mashpee, -Massachusetts 02649
plan. If we were to replace this land it would be millions of dollars. The assessment of land
right now is very high.
Ms. Faulkner commented on the Mass Estuary Project in 2007. They put that area as a tertiary
place. To support, in 2015 the same Mass Estuary Project showed this as low priority, talking
about Gunters Lane, with 0% nitrogen removal. It gets heavy in Shoestring Bay and Waquoit
Bay. She would like an answer to why here and not somewhere else?
Mr. Balzarini asked who picked this area? He believes it is part of a back door deal. What is
the benefit? Is Sandwich contributing? He is against this 100%. It should have been a public
forum, so people that are here now could've spoken up.
The Planning Board is the Land Use Committee in Town and the public should have been
notified. Ms. Waygan found out about this from a newspaper article. Tomorrow, the meeting is
at Town Hall, it starts at 3:OOPM in the Waquoit Meeting Room. It will have to go to Town
Meeting for a 2/3 vote.
Mr. Oakley added that with the projected costs on the horizon for the new Police Station, this
was not brought to our attention in a timely manner.
Mr. Milbury inquired who would be present in the meeting tomorrow. As far as Ms. Waygan is
aware, it was by invitation only. GHD will be there. She suggests people call the Town
Managers office; it really should be a public forum. She brought this here as she strongly
believes in transparent government.
Ms. Waygan tried to post an Agenda, but it was put on hold at the advice of Town Counsel.
Arden Cadrin spoke that she posted an Agenda for the Community Preservation Committee
because the attendance would have caused quorum, so she had no choice but to post a
meeting.
Ms. Waygan covered her duties with respect to Open Meeting Law. She knows she wouldn't
sit back but she cannot advise anyone on what to do.
Mr. Hansen had the pleasure of walking every trail in that upland forest. It is pristine and
untouched, he took photos. He found several trail markers, with many trails not marked. The
roots were well maintained with no trash to be seen. Also, a result of some glacial melting
holes, the area is unbuildable with kettle holes. It would be ill advised to put any structures
here. Every subdivision surrounding that area, all landowners have a path going to these trails,
it is clearly well appreciated.
Mr. Tobin was surprised to see a Treatment Plant versus a Pump Station suggested for that
open space area at the end of a cul-de-sac. From the Wastewater Division's perspective, if
those 240 homes are to be sewered, there is no other place to put it due to the Sandwich town
6
