A pipe would need to be run through Sandwich, maintained by Wastewater, and would
allow residents of Sandwich to hook up at no cost, but a cost for Mashpee residents. He does
appreciate Ms. Faulkner's point about priorities. We know for whatever reason, the Special
Permit came under the ZBA, and it dates to 1987. There is a notation on the plans that talks
about covenant restrictions, the citation with the ROD goes to a unit condominium deed in
another town, so there is a tricky paper trail and additional items to navigate.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Christine Aziz- She is appreciative of this forum and sentiment. She saw a man surveying in
her yard and he came back a week later with a letter from Jared Meader explaining the
wastewater treatment facility. She wants the water cleaned up, she went to the Town Meeting
in May, she is passionate about open space. We aren't even on any of the phases. This letter
was supposed to be dropped at every house and abutter. That did not happen. That land was
open space, told to the owners, but that designation expired after 30 years, according to the
Select Board. Engineers went and spoke to the attorney, who said it was Town owned land
that was presented to the Select Board in July. For this to be open space for all these years,
not to mention it is nothing but hills and valleys.
Kevin Schofield- He grew up on the Cape and searched for a home with walking trails and
conservation, as he spends much of his free time in nature. He was drawn to Mashpee for its
ample open space. Mashpee has led the charge for preservation of open space and
conservation. This proposal at 0 Gunters is posted as conservation and was posted as such on
the state GIS, until this year. It is unknown why the state doesn't recognize this as state land
any longer. This is deeded open space from a cluster subdivision. Sewer is actively undoing
the work of this Board. This sends the message that no deeded open space is safe. This
proposal and this location is not right. It's going against the towns' own stated goals for
conservation and deeded open pace. He has yet to receive any notification about this, by no
means has everyone received this letter.
Arden Cadrin- She stated all Open Space and Recreation Plans have this parcel identified
since 1996.
Ms. Waygan has the parcel listed under Pimlico Pond Heights Cluster, map and lot is in this
parcel.
Richard Reed - He was an original owner and it's all true. He is totally surprised at the
reaction of this Board and not knowing. Who is responsible for this? How did this come about?
The hills and valleys would require a lot of backfill. He doubts there was any environmental
impact study. He got his letter on July 1 st. He was under the impression he would get a
certified letter. He has been noticing along Pimlico Pond they have been marking the middle of
the streets. Back in May, he called Town Hall, as he didn't see his house in the sewer phases,
and didn't see in any phase. Last Wednesday, he looked out the door and there was a guy
7
