Building an abutters list and email database for better communication was
discussed, along with engaging schools through science fairs, and environmental clubs
to involve youth in pond stewardship.
The committee noted a lack of an active Open Space and Recreation Plan in town,
which limits opportunities to apply for conservation funding related to walking trails and
natural resource protection. The committee emphasized the need for collaboration with
other advisory groups on land protection priorities, particularly for parcels adjacent to
freshwater ponds.
Discussion ensued about distinguishing between goals, priorities, and initiatives in the
management plan. It was suggested that the committee’s mission statement aligns
5
