4 <br /> <br />Community Preservation Committee <br />Minutes <br />July 1, 2024 <br />APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS <br />CPC Applications proposed for funding at the October 2024 Town Meeting; <br />Matthew Haney, Gooseberry Island Trust; Acquisition of Gooseberry Island: (continued) <br />The property is identified on Assessors Map 100 as Block 6 consisting of 4-acres more or less, to <br />acquire for open space, conservation and passive recreation purposes. <br />Mr. Haney briefly reviewed the past history of Gooseberry Island. <br />With history of past litigation, members of the CPC agreed to defer questions with respect to this <br />regard and motioned as follows; <br />Motion made by Mr. Klein to enter into Executive Session at a future date with Town <br />Counsel and the Town Manager with all materials. <br />Motion seconded by Ms. Waygan. <br />Discussion followed. It was recommended the CPC empower the CPC Chair to further review <br />this matter with Town Counsel with all documentation. <br />Motion withdrawn by Mr. Klein and Ms. Waygan. <br />No Action. <br /> <br />It was noted that an appraisal is necessary for the CPC to move forward with negotiations, and if <br />favorable to move forward with an article for the Town Meeting warrant. However, the <br />applicant has stated the price is non-negotiable, and that he would not take the results of the <br />appraisal. <br /> <br />Motion made by Mr. Hyde to empower the CPC Chair to contact the Town Manager and <br />Town Counsel, obtain the appropriate documentation and determine if the CPC is <br />required to enter into Executive Session with Town Counsel to further discuss this matter. <br />Motion seconded by Ms. Wyman-Colombo. <br />VOTE: 8-0.
