<br />Select Board <br />November 3,2025 <br />Minutes <br /> <br />Discussion of SNAP potential impact on Mashpee residents <br />The Board discussed the recent pause and potential temporary reduction in SNAP <br />(Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits and the anticipated impact on <br />Mashpee residents. Town Manager Rodney Collins noted that the timing of the reduction <br />coincides with local workforce furloughs and interruptions in pay, creating additional <br />hardship as the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays approach. He stated that the <br />Mashpee Chamber of Commerce is actively coordinating community e?orts to address <br />food insecurity and requested authorization to utilize available Town resources—such as <br />police department vehicles—to assist with the delivery of food donations when needed <br />and approved. <br />Selectwoman Kelley-Wilson highlighted the Mashpee Chamber of Commerce’s support for <br />SNAP recipients and announced an ongoing community food drive benefiting the Christ the <br />King Food Pantry. She described e?orts to place small collection baskets for canned and <br />nonperishable goods in local o?ices and businesses, with another drive planned at the end <br />of December to restock the pantry. Selectwoman Kelley-Wilson noted a fundraiser at the <br />Mashpee Farmers Market on November 16, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Clam <br />Jam to help support. Tracy emphasized the importance of community support given the <br />SNAP reduction in benefits and local layo?s <br />Selectman Cotton noted the Mashpee Recreation Department’s 11th Annual “Fill the Van” <br />event scheduled for November 20, with donations benefitting the Christ the King and the <br />Falmouth Soup Service Center. Collection points will be located at the Fire Department, <br />Police Department, Council on Aging, and the Library.
