<br />Select Board <br />December 8,2025 <br />Minutes <br /> <br />the design attempts to shift the egress far enough away from the roundabout to maintain <br />functionality. <br /> <br />Chair Wyman-Colombo concluded by requesting that future plans clearly show proposed <br />egress locations and alternatives so that the Board and the public can better understand and <br />evaluate the impacts before proceeding. <br /> <br />Update on the Environmental Management Commission – Andrew Gottlieb, <br />Community Advisory Council Representative <br />The Select Board received an update from Andrew Gottlieb, Community Advisory Council <br />representative, regarding the Environmental Management Commission and ongoing matters <br />related to Camp Edwards. Mr. Gottlieb reported that the Council attended a meeting in <br />October where several approvals were granted for range uses and course arrangements, <br />which are intended to reduce administrative burdens on sta?. He noted that these approvals <br />have been years in the making. <br /> <br /> Gottlieb provided an overview of a 2024 study conducted by the National Academy of <br />Sciences examining the potential impacts of a machine gun range on the Upper Cape <br />drinking water supplies. The study identified multiple areas of concern, but no consensus <br />had been reached. Gottlieb indicated that, while the Guard plans to execute a contract with <br />the National Academy of Sciences to develop the study scope, no formal scope has yet been <br />shared, no public hearing schedule has been established, and no funding has been received <br />to date. He estimated that the study could begin in late 2026 and may take 18–24 months to <br />complete. <br /> <br />Selectman Weeden raised questions regarding potential PFAS contamination in wildlife, <br />particularly in relation to deer and watershed hydrology. Gottlieb stated that there has been <br />no formal sampling by the Guard beyond limited studies. Gottlieb noted that site <br />14 <br /> <br /> <br />
