IMP. IMBO
d"fr,,{ynr,fw VhP.
w Mashpee lncCusion and'Diversity Committee
16 Great Neck Road -Vort(-
MasGtpee, M-A 02649
Survey
Mr. Kupferman has done a lot of work on this. Ms. Stevenson sent the link to Southport and
New Seabury, but she is unsure if it was distributed. There have been 20 responses to the link
survey.
There have been 180 paper responses to the survey, and results were handed out. There
wasn't a large representation from minors, but overall that figure is a good sampling for a town
survey. It may be from a group of more involved people, but we want participation, and by
making it accessible to all is how we do that. Paper copies have been replaced with QR codes
and online links. We can try and get more results, but only electronically. Mr. Kupferman does
not think there will be much of a difference in the data.
Max Nash noted a lot of youth don't find the local government to be very accessible, especially
when it involves activism. Distributing this survey to the high school to get young people's input
would be crucial.
Ms. Hill stated the school has been surveying students a lot lately, maybe after the holidays
would be a better time to approach it. They would have to get approval from Administration, but
it could be sent via an email through the principal, to student emails or by posting the QR code
around the building. Ms. Hill will help facilitate a meeting with some faculty and Chair
Stevenson. Chair Stevenson noted it received Select Board approval before being distributed
amongst the town departments.
Mr. Kupferman continued there was some comments regarding the Wampanoags, LGBTQ+,
seniors, and visibility, specifically around events.
Ms. Stevenson is curious how long we want to have this circulating in the community. We want
to establish an end date of January 315t to allow the school time to participate. This survey tells
us how the community feels about DEI and this committee's involvement.
One point to note, as 84% of residents stated as a priority in town, is to respond to acts of hate
and report to town government and intervene to achieve resolutions.
Mr. Klein commented the Town Manager did seek advice from this Committee. We are an
advisory committee, if he feels he needs to bring it to our attention he will. We discuss the
matter and he takes the information and does what he wants with it.
3
