<br />Mr. Martin reads a letter (appendix A), on behalf of Citizens for the Preservation <br />of Waquoit Bay, Mr. Martin recommends the Board adopt Best Available <br />Nitrogen Reducing Technology (BANRT) as the standard to be required for all <br />new septic systems in Mashpee. That this technology can achieve effluent total <br />nitrogen levels of ten mg per liter or better. <br />Mr. Martin states that enhanced systems (approved by DEP) exist that can <br />remove an extra nine (9) mg per liter of total nitrogen from residential septic <br />systems beyond the standard currently required and it is common sense to act <br />today to take advantage of that technological improvement <br />Mr. Martin requests that this recommendation be placed on the next meeting <br />agenda. …that dealing with nitrogen at the source is the cheapest way to deal <br />with it. <br /> <br />Public comments are closed. <br /> <br />Mr. Livingston closes the public hearing. Public Hearing is closed. <br /> <br />HEALTH AGENT DISCUSSION <br /> <br />Agent Seabury speaks about the Health Fair and the lack of turnout over the past <br />few years. He has contacted the health departments in Bourne, Falmouth, and <br />Sandwich about partnering with the Mashpee Health Department and may also <br />reach out to Tom McKean in Barnstable. <br /> <br />He has spoken with Mary Bradbury, Director of the Mashpee Recreation <br />Department, about changes to improve public participation. In addition, Agent <br />Seabury would like to coordinate a blood drive for those who are interested in <br />participating. The County has committed to doing the advertising. Agent Seabury <br />added that he is working with the Tribe, they usually come to Mashpee Health <br />Fair and in turn Mashpee goes to theirs. <br /> <br />He plans on asking the Select Board if he can hold the fair by the splash pad at <br />Edward C. “Tiger” Long Memorial Playground during school break on Friday, June <br />26, 2026 from 12-3pm. <br /> <br />Alternatively, it can be held in conjunction with Mashpee Night Out at the Police <br />Department, which is well attended. <br /> <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br /> <br />
