of TMs s,s
z.
Aannin Board
c
16 Great Neck Road North
.wlashpee, Aassachusetts 02649
Ms. Faulkner asked what mitigation would look like if we were to condense to this area.
Ms. Sullivan stated subject to approval, there would be some widening so funds could be
reallocated towards that.
It was asked which had higher volumes, the left onto Charles St. from the Rotary, or left onto
ShelIback Way?
Ms. Sullivan noted the left turn into the site.
Ms. Waygan would like to see offsite mitigation go towards an extra line for a left turn lane onto
Charles St.
Mr. Kirrane cautioned the Board about acquiring the lane without MassDOT approval. There
are certain thresholds the volume must meet, and Ms. Sullivan is saying these numbers don't
meet those thresholds.
Mr. Bogosian would condition working with MassDOT and this Board, it could be a 6-month
process. He would like to make a proposal to look at this closer on a local level.
Greg Lucas, Traffic Engineer with Tighe & Bond, stated safety issues with that approach, and
people shifting lanes. Operational and safety standpoints all need to be a part of that
discussion with MassDOT. They need to be shown what could be implemented, and not just
immediately dismiss because it's under 100 vehicle thresholds.
Ms. Waygan asked Mr. Kirrane to draft some timelines that certain criteria needs to happen
within three months of approval. We have to contact MassDOT and it could be a multi-month
conversation.
Mr. Bogosian would like to work in conjunction, they don't want to get the approval then go to
MassDOT, and they say no.
Mr. Tobin stated that if the Board states it really wants to focus on this area, it may receive
more leniency from the Cape Cod Commission. He will be exploring this intersection and
Waggs Rd./Prescott Way.
15
