<br />Select Board <br />Minutes <br />April 6,2026 <br /> <br />Niedzwiecki explained that the Cape & Islands Bridges Coalition, formed in 2024, includes <br />about 50 business and community groups and meets quarterly. He noted that tra?ic is split <br />evenly on Cape Cod but is heavier on the Sagamore Bridge o?-Cape. Seasonal tra?ic <br />congestion is often caused by the Exit 1 interchange, especially around the Fourth of July. <br />He added that the Coalition is working with towns and boards to share information and <br />encourage communication with state and federal agencies. The main concern is securing <br />funding for the Bourne Bridge. <br />During discussion, Selectman Weeden asked about potential delays due to legal issues or <br />unexpected discoveries. Niedzwiecki said no major delays are expected at this time, <br />though unforeseen issues are always possible. He noted that Massachusetts has <br />processes in place to manage such situations. Selectman Weeden also asked about <br />coordination with the Cape Cod Commission, and Niedzwiecki said the Commission has <br />been helpful in explaining technical details. <br />Selectwoman Kelley-Wilson asked about tra?ic during construction. Niedzwiecki said <br />there are no plans for full bridge closures, though there may be lane restrictions, and <br />construction will be planned with seasonal tra?ic in mind. <br />Discussion of Mashpee Pickleball Courts on Ashumet Road – Earnest Barrows, <br />Abutter <br />Town Manager Rodney Collins reported that resident Ernest Barrows has ongoing concerns <br />about noise from the pickleball courts. Although the Town has attempted to reduce the <br />noise, Barrows stated that it has not helped and continues to a?ect his quality of life, <br />including waking him at night. <br />Barrows told the Board he has had di?iculty obtaining complete documentation related to <br />the project and believes there were issues with how the courts were approved and funded. <br />He stated that some paperwork, including a Community Preservation Committee <br />application, could not be found and raised concerns about missing approvals and a cost <br />5 <br /> <br /> <br />
