Last year, 6 restaurants donated pizza. It was a bit timely, but it
was donated by the local restaurants and was free. Chair Stevenson is in touch with Jeni
Wheeler from Family Table Collaborative, who works on projects like this. They are interested
in providing a multi-national selection of free foods. She will send along cost information and
together, they will craft a grant.
The Donovan's from the Baha'i group helped with the genesis of this event, and they continue
to be heavily involved.
Human Rights Club
The Chair met with Celeste Reynolds, the new Advisor for the Human Rights Club at the
school. We are trying to rebuild our connections following some retirements. It was a nice
meeting, and she met the new officers of the Club, and is waiting to hear back from them
following an e-mail she sent. Max Nash wanted to note that the Human Rights Club has not
been very active.
She continued to discuss the recruitment process and how we offer this to the students of the
middle and high school. Max stated the clubs overall are not as engaging as they used to be,
there is a lack of participation across the board.
Ms. Stevenson agreed, that she saw the Human Rights Academy having these same issues.
They didn't have their big fall meeting this year which was disappointing. She is also
curious if anyone will organize Diversity Day again at the school.
There are plans to keep the Who We Are project going if we find more families or
representatives. She sent a letter about a community mentor but has not heard back yet. We
still have photos and biographies, and we have talked about displaying some out in the
community at various locations.
