IMP. IMBO
d"fr,,{ynr,fw VhP.
w Mashpee lncCusion and'Diversity Committee
16 Great Neck RoadNorth
Mashyee, M-A 0264.9
Based on the survey results, hosting speakers within our meetings or beyond, only received
medium priority, but still a favorable response overall.
Mr. Kupferman commented this Committee can access the Select Board through our liaison
and referenced that time the Town Manager approached this Committee. Maybe there needs
to be a formalized public relations awareness session for this Committee, and rights when
talking to the Select Board about a process. We have resources but taking on power has
liabilities.
Mr. Klein added a public service announcement could be posted in The Enterprise every
month, stating we are available for grievances or problems that can be brought to this
Committee.
Mr. Fand mentioned the Facebook group, but you have to be willing to try different methods of
outreach.
Ms. Wilson stated nobody would be available to monitor a phone line or respond to inquiries in
a timely manner.
Ms. Landry added there needs to be a process in place with established procedures on how
this Committee would handle that. Do we want someone to wait a month for feedback? What if
they reached out tomorrow, the day after our monthly meeting, but they need help now! We are
not equipped to handle that.
Ms. Wilson mentioned a valuable domestic violence support resource at the Police
Department.
Max Nash commented about how to respond if someone were to witness a deportation, or
immigrants having access to resources such as LUCE, the Immigrant Justice Network. He
wants more education incorporated into the community so it can get organized and connected.
Mr. Klein has a speaker he would like to invite to this Committee. Her name is Seyana Mawusi,
the recipient of the Falmouth Civic Leadership Award at the MLK Breakfast. He wants her to
come speak with this Committee on what she has been doing within the Falmouth schools.
Mr. Kupferman enjoyed the Braver Angels presentation last month.
4
