of TMs s,s
z.
AU1MLIUVy
own olf MaS 2 Panning Board
c
16 Great Neck, RoadNorth
JWashpee, Massachusetts 02649
Ms. Waygan added the one item that goes on the record with this Board is the DRI decision.
We referred it, we must prove in the record that process is over.
Dave Scott- He has been a resident for 15 years and has an engineering background. He is
impressed with this project; it has been thoroughly done with a lot of input. The architecture fits
into the town well. He appreciates the developerwho has found such a responsible tenant,
they are a highly respected company and we all recognize that. He strongly supports this
project. In hearing issues with Ace Hardware, it sounds like something needs to be done, but
that is unrelated to this. He thinks photos would help.
Paul Tangusso- He can appreciate the excitement about this store but is concerned about
traffic and public safety. He doesn't want this to turn into a Deer Crossing v. development/
Trader Joes. From a public safety standpoint and anyone who visits this area is who the
Planning Board should consider. Even the excited folks will be at risk because of increased
congestion. He knows the traffic study assumes people will follow prescribed routes, one thing
he has seen with today's drivers, they are distracted and more impatient, and no matter what
signs are posted, they do their own thing. He would like the Board to look at unsafe routes that
will develop as a result of human nature. People will cut through the other plaza, it is already
narrow with lot of near misses. With the entrance and exit off Rt. 28 you will see people do
invalid U-turns. He has seen this dynamic before because people wont want to wait at the light.
Lynne O'Hare- As a resident for 30 years, she is here to support this project. This developer
has been listening to them, they are considering environmental and traffic impacts, even dark
skies. She likes to look at the stars, and they really are trying to be good neighbors. The Town
of Mashpee has a developmental plan, something will go there, traffic is eminent. This is not a
bar, they have their hours, we must consider benefits. This will create jobs and the people who
have been working on this project are listening to make sure everyone who lives there is
comfortable. What else can we ask of someone who will be using that property? They bring
great prices, it's walkable, the lights there are user friendly. She can cross with her
granddaughter. She sees residents of Life who walk. She does not see how this will be a
problem.
Ted Hill — He is in favor of this, overwhelmingly most people support it. The balance will be
what is the right thing for wastewater and other issues. He is impressed they have taken a lot
into consideration; the Board or engineers haven't read the study yet. It is 12 miles from the
rotary in Mashpee to the Hyannis store. He drives through a bunch of towns to get to Market
Basket. It will take a load off their infrastructure and traffic; we should be more considerate of
our neighbors.
Ms. Waygan announced if there were any further questions to call the Planning Department:
508-539-1414.
10
