of TMs s,s
z.
AU1MLIUVy
own qf MaS 2 Panning Board
c
16 Great Neck, RoadNorth
-Mashpee, -Massachusetts 02649
Mr. Balzarini stated this would come back before this Board what seems like every five years,
so the Shellback residents knew this project had been a long time coming.
The tenant wants to be in Mashpee; there is value to being in Mashpee. This spot met all the
criteria.
Mike Milbury has concerns. He cannot picture 18 wheelers on Shellback Way, and in a
moment some residents will share those concerns as well. Chipotle is coming in across the
street, a new development on Jobs Fishing Rd., with another on Market Street, this appears to
be a traffic nightmare and will certainly impact people in this neighborhood. He asked what the
name of the grocery store will be, as that has not been said yet. He asked if he has a signed
agreement with Trader Joes. He would like to have a look at that.
Mr. Kirrane reiterated the traffic study that was performed and addressed at the Cape Cod
Commission.
Mr. Bogosian wants to answer traffic questions and share all the data with traffic design. The
Commission knew traffic would be an issue, so they brought in a traffic consultant that
specializes in where the right traffic flow will function throughout the site. Traffic shows peak
times, like a Saturday in the summer and the average weekday. They chose this site based on
meeting zoning criteria and knowing there is a desire in town, they want to ensure the traffic is
flowing and there is ample parking.
Mr. Tobin would like to have the traffic study peer reviewed by our own traffic consulting
engineer and take one evening just to analyze traffic data.
Ms. Faulkner loves Trader Joes, along with everyone she knows, but under 174-24(c), one
adverse impact is traffic safety and flow. She asked if they received permission from MassDOT
to put the curb cut in. She noted the curb cut coming from the rotary, and the crash summary
shows no issues at the Deer Crossing Shellback intersection. She asked if they factor in what
is to come with the 40B and Mashpee Commons.
Mr. Bogosian stated they have gone through MassDOT, and have to come back with
approvals, but will be able to move forward, and they are confident what they are proposing Is
allowable. During the study they factor in what is in the works, they also must wait to study
certain times of year, taking data from both winter and summer, as well as all data available,
Chipotle was existing and Mashpee Commons they were aware of.
Ms. Faulkner would like some map renderings that walk through that visually for everyone,
inclusive of signal lights and bike paths. She wants an engineer to walk through this, their team
can render drawings, maybe over the google map to show perspective relative to what it is
4
