Bradbury explained that the proposed day passes would cost $20 per vehicle for
visitors who do not possess a beach parking sticker, Tribal ID, John’s Pond weekly pass or
Military ID.
Bradbury stated that the parking area at John’s Pond contains 69 spaces, and she proposed
allocating up to 30 spaces for day-pass use. She noted that the Recreation Department
collects daily attendance data and reported that, during the 2025 season, the average daily
attendance was approximately 26 patrons and 13 vehicles over the course of an eight-hour
day.
Bradbury explained that limiting day passes to 30 spaces would help redistribute beach
usage, including visitors from o?-Cape, while also generating a small amount of additional
revenue for the Town’s general fund. She stated that the proposal would not require
additional sta?ing or operational costs and that the program would be limited to weekends
and holidays due to sta?ing limitations.
Motion made by Selectman Weeden to reinstitute day passes at John’s Pond for the
2026 summer season, beginning June 20 through Labor Day. The program would operate
on weekends and holidays only during that time period as a pilot implementation and
would be revisited the following year for further evaluation.
Motion seconded by Selectman Cotton.
Vote: 4-0 Unanimous
Roll Call Vote
7
