of TMs s,s
z.
Aannin Board
c
16 Great Neck Road North
.wlashpee, Aassachusetts 02649
Mr. Lucas stated when that development was built that was predicated on access. That access
is allowed and making that change is larger than this project.
Ms. Waygan agreed, South Cape paid for their DRI, and they would not want to give up their
left turn entrance they paid in betterments, so their DRI did not cause a traffic jam. After that
project Route 28 goes down to two lanes, because they didn't continue that mitigation down
Route 28.
Mr. Tobin wanted to add as we explore the rotary project with MassDOT, the Board should
think about extending those four lanes all the way down to the rotary.
Ms. Waygan stated that is in their LCP from 1998.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Diane Scott- She has been a resident of Mashpee for over 14 years. She is in full support of
Trader Joes. She has been attending these meetings to discuss this proposed site and they
are getting close to finalizing. She wants to thank the Board and Trader Joes for the
meticulous amount of work in reviewing this project. We applaud the multitude of revisions
made to ensure questions and issues are not only answered but resolved. Meetings have been
filled with lots of information, but let's not lose sight of progress. Trader Joes has resolved over
30 issues, and they are offering large amounts of money to resolve issues moving forward. In
addition to studies with highly trained experts, what additional highlights do we need to
remember? Most people love this fun unique grocery store. There is a most important need for
one in this community, which cannot be overstated or overlooked. In looking at multiple
studies, the average savings at Trader Joes is 21.5% lower than a typical grocery store. This is
huge in this economy, especially for families with children or seniors on fixed budgets. In
addition to savings, they also provide families with healthy minimally processed organic
choices. Something will go into that area of land. Mashpee will continue to grow. Do we want
this most desirable store to best serve the community or open the possibility of a least
desirable tenant? Trader Joes has done everything in their power and then some, to ensure
they are a safe addition to this Town. There are undisputable and overwhelming support from
the majority of approximately 15,483 residents. She is respectfully asking the Planning Board
and Trader Joes to deeply consider the wishes for all residents.
David Gill — He lives on Shellback Way in Deer Crossing. He thanked the Board for their
efforts. The last meeting also went beyond 10PM. He noted the Town Planner hitting a lot of
concerning points. Regarding traffic, he has not heard anything that slays his concerns. He is
not the shopper in his family, he is not knocking Trader Joes but trying to jam this building in a
land locked parcel that doesn't allow for egress is not smart. He likes hearing the Town
Planner ask if this is doable. He is also a Trustee at Deer Crossing, and he referenced Ms.
Faulkner bringing up Waggs Road. He has been on that Board for 8 years, and not once has
27
