If frequency is reduced, we are lessening the Committee's visibility.
She gave a shout out the editor for her support and will identify someone to write for the May
column.
Brochure Dispersal
Chair Stevenson mentioned the Falmouth Multicultural Fairtaking place on May 9th, from
2:OOPM- 4:OOPM at East Falmouth Elementary School. She will send an e-mail reminder, but
she is planning to take some brochures with her to this event.
Ms. Stevenson received a comment from a community member asking if we would ever
consider writing the brochure in a different language. This is certainly something to consider.
Mr. Kupferman noted the brochure may not be of use to Falmouth residents, but he
acknowledged a lot of people have been taking them. His remaining stack is limited, and he is
unsure what Committee members have left.
Ryan Nardone commented that Mashpee Night Out is TBD at the moment while the
construction for the new Police Department is underway. They might be able to identify another
location, but that is too soon to know right now.
Trish Hill provided some school statistics in relation to the brochure being available in another
language, stating Portuguese is the highest second language within the school. Others
languages include Haitian, Creole, Urdu, and Spanish. They obtain information via a home
language survey sent home with kids, then they track what languages are spoken at home and
who might require translation services.
This will be added to the Agenda for June as May is busy.
Human Rights Club/ Human Rights Academy
Chair Stevenson mentioned the Human Rights Academy having their annual event and
Mashpee not being able to attend this season, which is discouraging. She explained the
importance of this event, as it brings youth together who are inspiring in this meaningful work,
and our students get to see what is beyond Mashpee, together with other students.
