The Town of Mashpee, somewhere in the <br /> Zoning Bylaws, has a prohibition about curb cuts within a distance between two traffic lights on <br /> a major road, there is a certain number of footage. He has a two-foot pile of notes for this <br /> project, and he found references but couldn't see. The applicant has to apply to MassDOT and <br /> that's an enormous job, but he may not get approval. If there is something prohibiting the curb <br /> cut, then that is the answer. There are 166 units at Deer Crossing. He is trying to look out for <br /> the 400 residents who live there and are terrified about Saturdays and medical emergencies in <br /> this traffic nightmare. Whenever an ambulance, fire truck, or police officer has to respond, and <br /> there are some frequent flyers in that area, he is concerned about access. You have to work <br /> hard and make tough decisions, often unpopular ones, but he thanked the Board for being fair. <br /> He also thanked the Town Planner who deserves recognition, noting he has responded the best <br /> he can and who was willing to listen to opinions and information. <br /> Susanne Laundry -She is a resident of Shellback Way, and she is here as a pedestrian and <br /> bicyclist. How will the project impact the management of traffic safely, for both pedestrians, <br /> vehicles, and bicyclists? This question was asked for the transportation people, how safe will it <br /> be on the bike path when there is a cut? She wears her safety yellow and helmet, she also <br /> wears a full yellow jacket. She has a yellow tote for when she is walking. At Charles St., <br /> Shellback Way and Route 28, going across sidewalks she can touch cars as they are making <br /> the right-hand turn and she is crossing the crosswalk. How will it be when cars are trying to <br /> enter off Route 28, or if she is biking down Shellback across Route 28. Will those cars coming <br /> out of the Shellback Way entrance at Trader Joes even see her? We also have a bike path that <br /> goes to the Children's Museum and wide sidewalks that go down to the tennis club time share, <br /> and units behind Roche Bros. If you build it, they will come. That plaza has a Chipotle coming, <br /> with the bus stop. There is an established bus stop already at Eastern Bank; nobody has talked <br /> about developing that existing stop. Nobody has talked about making a traffic light at Shellback <br /> and Charles St. to be consistent with what we have now at Jobs Fishing. It's not just one set of <br /> crosswalk signals, its all four at once. At Jobs Fishing and Route 28, the crosswalk signal can <br /> grant access to any crosswalk at the same time. Bicyclists will do a diagonal and people walk <br /> diagonally too. That is not the way at Shellback and Charles St. It has always been okay, but <br /> with additional businesses coming in this issue needs to be addressed. We have a diverse <br /> community of time shares along that route, as well as a human services residence LIFE. We <br /> are going to have traffic. Plans showing the proposed bus stop to be in the rear didn't make <br /> sense. <br /> 12 <br />
