<br /> Affordable Housing Committee <br /> 16 Great Neck Road North <br />Mashpee, MA 02649 <br />- A letter has to come from the town, but the developer can help writing the letter. <br />Who qualifies for local preference? <br />- Current residents – one or more members living in the town of application <br />- Municipal employees <br />- Local business employees <br />- Households with children attending the local school <br /> <br />When determining preference: <br />- They look within the geographic boundaries such as Barnstable County, not Upper Cape. <br />- No durational requirements <br />- An offer to work in the town is an acceptable form of proof. <br />- Cannot have a local preference that discriminates against the disabled or elderly <br />- Local preference applies to the initial sale or lease up. <br /> <br />Mr. Tutor inquired about programs that maintain efforts to get housing bills passed. <br /> <br />Ms. Shufelt stated there are community development block grants. As the housing prices <br />increase, voucher numbers go down.
