MASHPEE ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS <br /> MEETING MINUTES <br /> JULY 22, 2026 <br /> Mr. Dirk mentioned that there are two things they review, which is the number <br /> of crashes that occur at one intersection per million vehicles thru the <br /> intersection, which is the State data which is between .75 and .78 crashes per <br /> million crashes, and a non-single line intersection is .57 crashes per million <br /> crashes thru an intersection. The State also reviews the severity of the crashes. <br /> He reviewed this data that was provided for Rte. 151 and is included in the 2023 <br /> data. There are no high crash ratings on severity. <br /> Mr. Morris announced that Fire Chief Peltier was present to discuss any <br /> questions from the Board. <br /> Chief Peltier asked what the time frame was for Saturday. Mr. Dirk said that the <br /> count will be between 11:00 am thru 2:00 pm. which is the peak volume times. <br /> Chief also mentioned that there's an issue with the street alignment located in <br /> front of Christ The King Church that's a problem. <br /> Mr. Furbush asked the Chief if there's a traffic issue for the police and fire <br /> departments entering Rte. 151. Chief Peltier said that right now it's not a problem <br /> but with the growth of the new buildings he is more concerned about the issue <br /> located in front of the church. <br /> Mr. Goldstein mentioned he experienced a backup of traffic at 5:00 pm turning <br /> onto Old Barnstable Road from Rte. 151. <br /> Lynne asked if Vanesse has included all of the construction that is in the pipeline <br /> at this point, especially with one more residential building in Mashpee <br /> Commons. <br /> Mr. Dirk stated he has overestimated his traffic calculations after reviewing Mr. <br /> White's discussion regarding a supermarket proposal that was denied and that <br /> traffic estimate was included. <br /> The Board had a discussion and wanted to confirm the total number of buildings <br /> that were approved for Mashpee Commons and would like to see all that data. <br /> Lynne mentioned that the discussion at the last hearing that the applicant was <br /> going to reach out to Mashpee Commons regarding their MEPA approval. <br /> Attorney Haverty will be reaching out to Mashpee Commons regarding their <br /> MEPA approval. <br /> s <br />
